He Must Increase

He Must Increase

In order for Him to increase, you must decrease.

Have you ever heard the saying, “Jesus, take the wheel”? That’s a form of decreasing. It’s the surrender of control. It’s the admission that our hands were never meant to grip the steering wheel of life so tightly.

For Him to increase in your situations - in your life in general - your will, desires, wants, and hopes must first be laid down.

His ways are not our ways. The way we view things is not the way He views them. Unlike us, He is all-knowing. He sees the beginning and the end of every story at the same time.

We can be big-headed in our ways. Egotistical. Desperate for absolute control. But you cannot handle God that way.

How do you expect Him to work in your life if you do not let Him in to do the work?

Move over already.

Even when the outcome looks different than what you imagined, I promise you - it will be the best possible outcome for you.

Think of when you were a child. Someone cared for you. At some point they had to tell you “no” or redirect you. It wasn’t meant to harm you - it was protection.

If you had tried to stick a fork into an outlet, disaster could have followed. But the house was baby-proofed with you in mind. Parameters were set for your safety.

That’s what surrender is.

When you decrease, you allow the Lord to do what He sees fit for His child.

Our purpose is to exalt Christ - not ourselves.

So the next time you feel like you’re losing control, maybe that’s the invitation.

Acknowledge that you’ve been trying to handle everything in your own strength. Tell Him you need Him - not just in the crisis, but daily.

Cast your worries onto Him.

Because in your weakness, His strength is perfected.
