Learning to Be the Light
Share
During this fast, God has been working on my heart’s posture and how I view the world. The world can be a dark place, but we are called to be the light. There are so many ways to be a source of light - by telling the truth, because what is done in darkness always comes to the light, whether we like it or not. By spreading the gospel - the good news. By spending time in prayer and worship. By giving God all the glory, because He indeed deserves it.
We are called to remain steadfast in prayer and to take up the full armor of God: the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the sword of the Spirit, the shield of faith, and feet protected by the gospel. His Word is a lamp unto our feet, and we are to follow it wholeheartedly.
I’ve become more mindful of what goes into my vessel. And if I’ve messed up in the past, His mercies are renewed every day. I can get back up and try again - for the Lord, my Savior, who loves and delights in me.
Sometimes what He asks us to do, or where He places us, won’t always make sense. He knows our future and places us where we need to be for a reason or for a season. Where has God placed you that didn’t make sense at first - but as you came to know Him and humbled yourself before Him, you began to understand?
I don’t think the why matters as much as the what. Let’s get into the habit of inviting God into every aspect of our lives. Perhaps even asking Him, Lord, what are You showing me? What would You like me to do? In doing so, we can let go and trust that He will lead us - just as He’s led me.
Be patient. Be calm. Often, His guidance comes as a quiet and gentle nudge.
