Serving Like Christ - Vulnerability in Service

Being More Like Jesus: Through Action, Not Just Faith
Being more like Jesus is shown through our works, not just our faith. Being more like Him can look like putting yourself out there to help others. Are your actions reflecting Christ? Are you opening yourself to people for His sake, or choosing to hide away?
I used to love talking to people, but life happened. Rejections, hurts, disappointments - I started closing myself off, becoming an emotional shut-in, hiding from the world.
But God is awesome! He’s been working on me and shaping my heart posture. I asked Him to increase it, and indeed He has.
Just today, on my lunch break, I decided to greet everyone I passed with, “Good afternoon, God bless you!”
-
Two people said, “You too!”
-
One person was on the phone but still turned to smile
-
One guy crossing the street ignored me
-
Two others sitting at a small food spot did the same
-
The mail carrier responded warmly: “Have a great day!”
Then came this one man, carrying some baggage and rolling things around. Before I could even speak, he said, “Could you pray for me?” Instantly, I laid hands on him and began to pray.
Afterward, he mentioned he was hungry. I felt ashamed to not have more to give - just a dollar on me - but I gave it cheerfully, hoping it would help him along his journey. He asked what church I attended, and we exchanged contact information. Then he asked if he could pray for me. I agreed, and that prayer was so anointed - the Holy Spirit came upon me, and I began to weep. He even began speaking in tongues!
It was such an emotionally charged moment. I left in gratitude and even made a video while it was fresh.
The revelation I received shortly afterward was profound: we often ask, “What can God do for me?” But truly, we should ask, “What can I do for Him?”
Being vulnerable, putting yourself out there, and serving others in humility - that is Christ-like. Yes, it carries risk. You might face rejection or misunderstanding. But when we serve Christ, it is with humbleness, humility, and a willingness to set aside our comforts.
So I ask you again: are your actions reflecting Christ today? We are called to serve, not be served.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
