The Change You Can’t Yet See

The Change You Can’t Yet See

It may look like nothing is happening in the background, but believe that something is.

Have you ever felt exhausted from doing something that seemed so remedial that it felt and looked like nothing major was happening? Like going to the gym—you go every other day, put in the work, but don’t see the gains you hoped for.

I just started doing Pilates, and one of the founder’s most famous quotes is: “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 you’ll see the difference, in 30 you’ll have a whole new body.”

What does this mean? It simply shows that if you keep up with the work, it will show. All that’s been done behind closed doors will eventually become evident—and people will see.

The same is true spiritually. When we read our Bible, it might be hard to understand at first. But when we remain in the Word, meditate on it, pray, attend Bible study, and persist—slowly but surely something begins to happen. It’s the silver lining that starts to illuminate within you. It’s God. It’s His righteousness. It so clearly becomes part of our world.

Who are you if you don’t have Jesus in your life? Where is your destiny? He said in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

If you’re not where you want to be spiritually, that’s okay. Just keep doing the inner work. Seek the Lord in all your ways, and He will direct your paths. Then not only you, but the people around you, will begin to see that you are no longer the same.

Prayer:
Father Lord, I pray that the change You do in us will be evident. Thank You for Your patience and grace in working with us. Your grace is sufficient indeed. Thank You for Your Word and ultimate will for our lives. May we become new creatures in Christ, as You’ve created us to be. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
