To Be Absent From the Body

To Be Absent From the Body

Death is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be scary. Every day, we hear sad and unfortunate stories of someone passing away. And while death will come for us all, one way or another, we must ask ourselves:

“Am I - or would I be ready to meet my Maker if today was that day?”

Ecclesiastes 9:12 tells us:

“Moreover, no one knows when the hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so people are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.”

Death can happen suddenly, tragically or through natural causes, without warning. And I’m not going to lie, even the thought of death can feel scary.

But here’s the hope: death is not the end. As final as it seems, it’s the only way out of this timeline we’ve become familiar with. And yet, it doesn’t have to be the end for us. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)

When we cross that threshold, will the Lord know you? Or will you hear:

“Depart from me, you worker of iniquity; I never knew you.” (Matthew 7:23)

That would be true death - separation from God.

This is why I stress the importance of building an intimate relationship with Him now. His insurance is the best insurance. Why not accept it? We buy insurance for everything else in life, but God’s insurance eternal life is free. It’s yours for the taking if you’ll only receive it.

He offers the gift of everlasting salvation to you. Did you know He had to die on the cross for you to receive this gift? He paid for all of your sins.

Accept Him and His free gift of salvation today. Pray to Him earnestly, with a sincere heart:

“Father Lord, I repent for my sins. I acknowledge I am a sinner. I am sorry I hadn’t come sooner, but I am here now. I believe what You did on the cross was for my sins. I believe You died on the cross and rose on the third day. No one can defeat death but You, Lord. Come into my heart. I accept You as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

He loves you. He’s still waiting. You are not a lost cause, and you are not too far gone. His grace is sufficient for you.

Do you accept His gift? If you have, then when you depart from this earth, you will have everlasting life in Heaven with the Lord where He has gone to prepare a place for you.

Jesus said:

“In my Father’s house are many mansions.” (John 14:2)

Surely, after death, there’s a place for you. Repent today.
